Calling proposals for an appointment of Agency for Public Relation Services for Ceylon Tea in China - Procurement No: PROC/GC/PR – China (2019) 
 
The Sri Lanka Tea Board Incorporated by the Tea Board Law No 14 of 1975 and appointed by the Government of Sri Lanka as, the apex body of the tea industry is also responsible for the promotion of Ceylon Tea locally and globally. The Board intends to obtain the services of a reputed PR agency to handle Public Relations activities in China for a period of three years. Update on Foreign National Casualties at Explosions in Sri Lanka


As at Monday 22nd April 2019 7.00 pm, the number of foreign nationals who have been identified as killed is 31. The fatalities are: one (01) from Bangladesh, two (02) from China, eight (08) from India, one (01) from France, one (01) from Japan, one (01) from The Netherlands, one (01) from Portugal, two (02) from Saudi Arabia, one (01) from Spain, two (02) from Turkey, six (06) from the UK, two (02) holding US and UK nationalities, and two (02) holding Australian and Sri Lankan nationalities.
 

Additionally, 14 foreign nationals are unaccounted for at present, and could be among the unidentified victims at the Colombo Judicial Medical Officer’s mortuary.
 

Seventeen (17) foreign nationals injured in the attacks are receiving treatment at the Colombo National Hospital and a private hospital in Colombo while others have been treated and discharged.
 

The Foreign Ministry continues to be in close contact with the relevant hospital authorities to identify the remaining victims. The Ministry will continue to monitor the welfare of the foreign nationals receiving treatment.
 

An emergency hotline to assist families of the affected foreign nationals is operational at +94 112323015.

Embassy of Sri Lanka in Beijing commemorates the National Thripitaka Week
  

The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Beijing, in collaboration with Buddhist Association of China organised a Dhamma Sermon and a Dhamma Discussion with Most Ven. Dr. Medagama Dhammananda Thero, Chief Lekakadikari of the Asgiri Chapter of Siam Maha Nikaya of Sri Lanka, Adviser of the Executive Board of Shasanarakshaka of the Ministry of Buddhasasana as well as the Vice President of the World Fellowship of Buddhists.

      

The Chinese Buddhist scholar, Ven. Dr. Yuan Ci Thero, Executive Member of International Council of Day of Vesak and Director of the Buddhist Association of China also attended as one of the guests. This event was held at the Embassy premises on 22nd March 2019 to celebrate the Tripitaka Week initiated by the President with the participation of Chinese Buddhists and Sri Lankans.

China to Enhance Cooperation with Sri Lanka in the Field of Agriculture

 

Vice Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of China Dr. Qu Dongyu met with the Ambassador of Sri Lanka in Beijing Dr. Karunasena Kodituwakku on 07 March 2019 with a view to enhancing cooperation with Sri Lanka in the field of Agriculture.
