The Ambassador met Ms. Liu Hongshi, General Manager of the Inbound Department for Business Development & Educational Programs of the China Tourism Group Corporation Ltd. (CTG) today (02.03.2021) at the Embassy.The China Tourism Group Corporation Ltd. (CTG) is the largest travel group in China and is a state-owned enterprise under the State-Owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council. It has 43,000 employees, 3000 branches in China and 60 overseas, including in the US, Europe and South East Asia. It handles 60 million tourists annually.The discussion was mainly focused on promoting Chinese tourism to Sri Lanka. CTG was highly interested in making Sri Lanka as a key designation using popular social media platforms.Ms. Liu asked for short promotional videos on Sri Lankan food, culture, history and scenic places, as they would be helpful to influence Chinese travellers, in particular the young generation.
 

 

 



Ambassador met Dr. Xu Chenzhi, Vice President of China Tianying Inc. (CNTY) today (02.03.2021) at the Embassy.

CNTY is the 4th largest operator in urban services and waste treatment in the world and they provide environmental services for 34 countries around the globe. Their services include development of industrial technology, treatment and recycling of water, integrated water cycle management, manufacturing of environmental protection equipment and development and application of urban service cloud platform. Ambassador emphasized that Sri Lanka requires a comprehensive solution for the waste management. He also stated that Sri Lanka needs a mechanism to convert plastic waste to LNG or other consumable materials as Sri Lanka currently faces the challenge of managing plastic waste. He also invited the CNTY to seek opportunities to invest in Agriculture sector.




Ambassador Dr. Palitha Kohona hosted a luncheon meeting to the Ambassadors of Bahrain, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Maldives and Nepal to China today (01.03.2021). Former Ambassador Sha Zukang of China also attended with Ms. Luan Yutao, Director General of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries.







The Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Sri Lanka (FCCISL) in collaboration with the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Beijing gifted a consignment of “Ceylon Tea” to Mr. Wang Yanguo, Party Secretary of the China International Chamber of Commerce for the Private Sector (CICCPS) and Executive President of APTA, CCI headquartered of Beijing. Mr. Wang Yanguo was instrumental in gifting much needed medical supplies to Sri Lanka during the early days of the Covid-19 pandemic (2020). Mr. Wang spokes at length about enhancing the bilateral economic and trade relationship. He also proposed holding the next meeting of the CICCPS in Sri Lanka and leading a large delegation of business people to Sri Lanka. He was particularly interested in the opportunities available in the Hambantota Industrial Zone.
